There was a useful public meeting last night in the Community Centre hosted by the Parish Council at which residents could question the bosses of Stagecoach and the county council’s officer responsible for implementing the bus cuts.
Lots of villagers spoke out about how the loss of the Citi 2 service and cutting of the 9 in the evenings (and leaving no service on Sunday) would affect them, and pleading for those in charge to think again. It was clear that these cuts would target those most vulnerable in the community – those who could not walk as far as the Park and Ride or the Science Park, and those without cars.
Andy Campbell from Stagecoach did agree that he would look into the possibility of running one bus to Milton at around 11pm after the scheduled service to the Science Park only, as an extra service, but this was the only concession we got.
Thanks to everyone who came. We now have 323 signatures on the Milton Bus Petition.Leave a comment
