We had 10 people out in the (light-ish) rain, litter picking Grassy Corner today.
Ellie Crane and Peter Harris with me from the village, Parish Councillor Michael Perkins, with his neighbours Roger and Loretta came to help from Clearview Caravan Park, and Nelson O’Connor sent 2 of his tenants over to help too. We also had Dr Holly Hedgeland from the university boat clubs and Cllr Ian Manning from Chesterton.
There was an impressive heap of rubbish collected. Special mention has to go to Ellie who brought her waders and went into the ditch to fish out those bits we couldn’t reach from the edge. Having Michael’s caravan nearby for a cup of tea at the end and a shower if needed was a boon. Roger and Loretta threw themselves into the effort and hope to continue keeping an eye on the area and picking litter as it arises from time to time.
It certainly looked much improved when we’d finished.Leave a comment
