Work has started to demolish the EDF buildings behind Milton Hall, and Bellway Homes will be building 89 new houses and flats starting next year. North Lodge itself is to be renovated as part of the scheme, and the old training area with dozens of different electricity poles will be turned back into an area of parkland. The lake and woodland is to be tidied up so it can be easily managed into the future. This will be a major new area of public open space, and will include a new play area.
Alongside 53 new homes for sale on the open market, South Cambs has negotiated for 35 affordable Housing Association dwellings on the site, 17 of which will be houses and 18 flats. The houses will be smaller ones: 5 with 3 bedrooms and 12 with 2 bedrooms. The affordable flats will be 6 with 1 bedroom and 12 with 2 bedrooms. Half of these affordable dwellings will be rented via the South Cambs Homelink system to people on their waiting list. The other half will be offered for sale as ‘shared ownership’ homes, with a share of up to 50% being for sale. So if you qualify, and you need an affordable home, get your name on the list now!
We are pleased to see that the Parish Council has agreed this month to accept the offer of a pavilion and recreation ground including two football pitches at the back of the site. There should also be space for an artificial cricket pitch between the football pitches, so that Colts cricket could also be played there.Leave a comment
